It feels as if it’s taken longer to arrive than a package from Amazon Antarctica, but The Nadine Coyle album is finally on its way and, having fully abused the five-track sampler over the weekend, we’re happy to confirm that, yes indeed, it’s time to get excited. As those of you who’ve heard the clip on the Nadtastic one’s website will know, the lead single and title track – ‘Insatiable’, details fans – is a bombastic synthy pop morsel with more swagger than the hardest lad in the upper sixth. However, to our ears it’s trumped by ‘Red Light’, an Annie Lennox-goes-electro-glam stomper on which Nadine seems to be obsessing over a band’s star axesmith – appropriately enough, the track concludes with a widdly-widdly 40-second guitar solo that Slash himself wouldn’t raise his eyebrows at. (Not that you’d be able to see behind the shades, of course.) What’s more, as any self-respecting Girls Aloud fan will tell you, Nads can slow it down as well as throw it down. ‘Chained’ is a suitably contemporary-sounding pop-R&B toe-tapper built around a plinky-plonky synth riff not dissimilar to the one at the start of Whitney’s ‘My Love Is Your Love’. ‘Natural’ is a slinky little number that Louise would have done the business with back in the day – and yes, we do mean that as a compliment – and ‘Unbroken’ is a soulful, smouldering, five-minute-long ballad on which La Coyle shows off a near-operatic falsetto. Newly divorced Cheryl Cole has broken her silence on her bed-hopping ex Ashley in an interview with Vogue magazine. Asked if she felt betrayed by her former husband, Cheryl replies: ‘Yes, definitely I do.’ And she admits she is hugely relieved they never had children. She says: ‘I’ve got to take everything that’s happened and learn from it. I accept that that’s a chapter of my life that’s finished. And I’ve just got to be grateful that I’ve got so many good things going on. I have. ‘And there’s no children, you know? Some people’s lives fall apart, are turned upside-down. Of course, it [the split] is heartbreaking, but it’s not anything remotely like it could have been and I’m very, very thankful for that.’ In the aftermath of her marriage collapse she admits getting ‘frightened of her own mind’ at night because it races uncontrollably. NADINE Coyle’s solo album has been subject to much scrutiny without anyone hearing a note – but I can confirm she’s recorded some cracking pop songs. I’ve heard five tracks from Insatiable, out November 8. The title track is the first single, and is ballsy and Eighties-influenced. Red Light kicks into a disco dazzler, while Unbroken sees Nads, 25, sing in falsetto. Chained has a sparkly synth backline and Natural is the big ballad, which she co-penned with Guy Chambers, 47 Source: Daily Star |

PLENTY of interested ears will be sounding out GIRLS ALOUD singer NADINE COYLE‘s new solo album. Not least JADE EWEN – as Nadine is recording a song Jade was due to sing on her debut album before she replaced KEISHA BUCHANAN in the SUGABABES. Jade said: “I don’t know how I’ll feel when I hear it. “It will be weird but I guess it will be like when Keisha would have listened to the stuff I re-recorded. “You can’t get caught up in all of that. We’re in a positive place right now.” Read full article. |

Since her split from husband Ashley, Cheryl Cole‘s slender figure has led to much debate. But it seems her tiny frame isn’t simply down to a broken heart. The 26-year-old has revealed she sticks to Eat Right 4 Your Type diet, in which she eats and avoids specific foods based entirely on her blood type. The effects could be seen today, as Cheryl flew into Heathrow from Dublin, where she performed a 30-minute gig as a support act for the Black Eyed Peas. Her skinny legs were highlighted by her tight leggings and strappy high heels, while even her clumpy leather biker jacket couldn’t hide her frame. Read full article. |

Girls Aloud‘s “The Promise” is nominated for an Ivor Novello award for Most Performed Work. The song is running up against Lily Allen’s “The Fear” and James Morrison’s “Broken Strings”. “The Promise” was written by Brian Higgins, Miranda Cooper, Kieran Jones, Jason Resch, Carla-Marie Williams, Tim Powell and Nick Coler (published by Warner/Chappell Music). “The Promise” is Girls Aloud‘s fourth number one single in the UK Singles Chart and won “Best British Single” at the BRIT Awards 2009. It was the first single to be taken from the group’s fifth studio album Out of Control. Brian Higgins said that Xenomania knew that “The Promise” was “the piece of music Girls Aloud needed to announce them as a supergroup in this country”: “‘The Promise‘ was the sound of a big group, a group about to be huge. They needed the theme tune to the biggest girl group on the planet”. In the past, Xenomania have been nominated for Gabriella Cilmi’s “Sweet About Me” and Sugababes’ “Hole In The Head”. In 1999, Cher’s “Believe” won three Ivor Novello awards for Best Song Musically and Lyrically, Best Selling British Single (decided by sales) and International hit of the year. Read full article. |

Girls Aloud‘s main songwriter has admitted it will be “a small miracle” if the band continues. Brian Higgins, who has produced the majority of the band’s music as part of the Xenomania team, claimed that he is unsure if the band will ever work together again. He told Ponystep: “If the band continues it will be a small miracle, but then, every album was for me anyway. “That’s why we put so much into it, because we couldn’t believe that they’d come back to us. We never assumed they would, ever. “I think that the body of work in terms of released songs is 110 or 120 songs now. It is very rare that anyone will do that again, that any group coming from any scene will release five or six albums, because careers just don’t last that long.” Read full article. |
