Jamie Shaw has criticised Cheryl Cole’s performance of her debut solo single on ‘The X Factor’.

Speaking to The Sun, the former One True Voice singer said that Cole appeared to struggle with the live rendition of ‘Fight For This Love‘.

Shaw said: “I thought Cheryl’s performance was poor. She looked really nervous and lost on that big stage. With the higher notes, she strained a bit and you could tell that in her face.

“There was no oomph in her performance. It was quite flat. She has a brilliant recording voice, but live it really isn’t working.”

One True Voice were made up of the male winners of 2002’s ‘Popstars: The Rivals‘ but lost out to the female victors Girls Aloud, who included Cole, in the battle for that year’s Christmas number one.

Shaw’s former One True Voice bandmate Daniel Pearce progressed to the Boot Camp phase of this year’s ‘X Factor’ but did not make it to the live knockout rounds.

Cheryl Cole is set to be the fastest-selling artist of the year after her controversial X-Factor ‘live’ performance sent her solo debut flying straight to Number One.

Fight For This Love, Cheryl’s first single without her Girls Aloud bandmates, sold an amazing 134,193 copies on its release yesterday.

It is now dead cert to overtake the year’s biggest seller set just last week by Alexandra Burke, Cheryl’s one-time X Factor pupil. Alex sold 185,000 copies of her single Bad Boys over seven days.

Cheryl’s raunchy military-style performance attracted a mixture of derision and praise on our live X Factor webchat, who watched the show on Sunday while chatting online with our showbiz team.

And there remains controversy over how much of the song she sang live: her agents insist that she only mimed to a backing track during the racy dance moves in the chorus, singing the verses live.  Read full article.
