It was eye candy aplenty in The X Factor tonight, when Cheryl Cole was serenaded by a lifeguard and guest judge Katy Perry ordered him to take his shirt off. As soon as Stephen Concannon, 23, took to the stage, he had the attention of the audience and the judging panel as he told them he was a lifeguard, to which Katy replied: ‘Honey, I’m drowning! Save me please!’ And, after Stephen serenaded Cheryl during his audition, leaving the stage to sing directly to her and kiss her on the hand, Katy decided she wanted a piece of the action – telling him she would only put him through to the next round if he took his shirt off. He promptly obliged, leaving Cheryl, Katy and the female members of the audience swooning with his six pack and muscly physique. And Stephen wasn’t the only act who caught Cheryl‘s attention. CHERYL Cole will quit Britain to head up the American X Factor, according to guest judge Katy Perry. Singer Katy, 25, reckons the Geordie will be Simon Cowell’s right-hand woman when he launches the show in the US next year. The I Kissed A Girl star – on the panel tonight for the Irish auditions – said: “Simon absolutely adores her. “I’m convinced he’ll be taking her to LA. She has all the star qualities.” And Katy – engaged to comic Russell Brand – admits she’d like a guest slot on the US show herself. Read full article. |

The new series of The X Factor kicked off in style with a series of inventive and entertaining performances which left judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole stunned. While Cheryl Cole‘s malaria and Dannii Minogue’s pregnancy leave have perhaps been the most reported factors of the programme so far, the focus was most definitely back on the music tonight with a series of stunning songs from some hugely talented performers. The most emotional performance of the night came from the Glasgow auditions in the form of 18-year-old student Gamu Nhengu. Gamu told the judges how she wanted to give back something to her mother, who had struggled to raise her and her two brothers on her own. Before going on stage she said: ‘We live in Scotland, just me, my two little brothers and my mum. My mum and I are really close – she’s a single parent and she pays the bills. Read full article. |

Cheryl Cole has stepped out with Derek Hough in Los Angeles, after crediting the dancer for saving her life. The 27-year-old singer, who wore a T-shirt bearing the slogan ‘Awesome’ as she went to see Angelina Jolie’s new film Salt at the cinema with Derek, said if the Dancing With The Stars professional hadn’t insisted doctors give her a blood test, she could have died from malaria. She is quoted by the Sunday Mirror as telling a friend: ‘I thought I had a bad case of flu and everyone else agreed. ‘I was even told to stay at home and get some rest. The doctors were so certain it was not serious and I believed them.’ It was only after Derek’s insistence that she should have a blood test that doctors discovered Cheryl was suffering from malaria and required urgent treatment. Cheryl Cole gave a clear indication she’s well on the road to recovery as she was pictured yesterday for the first time since contracting malaria. Wearing not a scrap of make-up with her hair hanging loose, the 27-year-old smiled at photographers as she picked up a coffee from her local Starbucks in Surrey. Wearing jeans, an off-the-shoulder white jumper and lace vest, the fresh-faced singer looked thrilled to be out in the fresh air again following nearly a month in bed. Looking noticeably fuller in the face and a healthier size compared to her increasingly skinny frame in recent months, it appeared Mrs Cole has been enjoying home-cooked meals from her mother Joan Callaghan, who has been assisting her daughter’s recovery. Clearly in a sociable mood after so many weeks recuperating, the star was more than happy to chat to fans and pose for photographs in the coffee shop. Read full article. |

Kimberley Walsh has set the record straight about her sex life in her brand new OK! Magazine column. New OK! columnist Kimberley Walsh says rumours that she’s only slept with two people are totally untrue. The Girls Aloud singer says she would never reveal anything about her sex life – as it’s private. In the first of her OK! columns Kimberley said: “I was in the news a lot last week after a story broke saying that I’ve only slept with two people. “This came from an interview where I said I’d only had two long-term relationships. I never said anything about how many people I’d slept with! Read full article. |

Cheryl Cole‘s dad, Gary Tweedy has revealed that the Girls Aloud star is on the mend and continues to improve. Gary told The Mirror how he has been phoning the Fight For This Love singer regularly since she was admitted to hospital 10 days ago with malaria after contracting the deadly plasmodium falciparum strain of the disease in Tanzania. Tweedy told the newspaper: “She has been in a bad way and we have obviously been worried. But she’s on the mend now.” The 47-year old added: “We don’t know how long she’ll be in hospital, I don’t think the doctors know. We’re just relieved she’s all right.” Chezza‘s father who split with her mum, Joan Callaghan 16 years ago also claimed that medics are hopeful that the X Factor judge will make a full recovery from the tropical illness. There were renewed fears over the health of Cheryl Cole last night after it emerged the stricken star has ‘fluid on her lungs.’ The pop singer and X Factor, who is being treated for malaria, has been in hospital since Sunday evening. The update on her condition was inadvertently revealed by her close friend, dancer Derek Hough. The American – who travelled with her to Tanzania, where she picked up the potentially fatal tropical disease – has been visiting Mrs Cole regularly since she fell ill. On Wednesday, he was overheard discussing Mrs Cole’s plight by another hospital visitor, who said afterwards: ‘I’ve seen Cheryl’s mum and Derek in there. They stayed overnight last night. I overheard Derek on his phone saying she’s got fluid on her lungs.’ Read full article. |
